When using the website www.faroty.com (hereinafter the "Site") or our services, we are required to collect personal data concerning you.
The purpose of this policy is to inform you about how we process this data in compliance with Cameroonian Law No. 2010/012 of December 21, 2010, relating to cybersecurity and cybercrime, as well as international data protection principles (GDPR).
1. Who is the data controller?
The data controller is the company Faroty, a limited liability company under Cameroonian law, with a capital of 10,000,000 FCFA, headquartered in Douala, Bonamoussadi, registered in the Douala Trade Register under number RC/DLN/2022/B/576 and identified by NIU M032217211519U (hereinafter "We").
2. What data do we collect?
We collect different categories of data:
- During user account creation: last name, first name, date of birth, email address, phone number, nationality, and country of residence.
- During the creation of a funding campaign: project title, description, category, image, financial goal, name and contact details of the beneficiary, and any necessary supporting documents.
- During a contribution or payment: last name, first name, phone number, country of residence, payment information (via secure providers), credit card type, and identity documents if required.
- When using customer service: last name, first name, email address, phone number, and the content of the request.
- During participation in games about our services: last name, first name, email address, phone number, date of birth, and social media pages.
- During site navigation: IP address, technical connection data, cookies, and geolocation data (if authorized).
👉 This data is mandatory to access the services. Without it, it will not be possible to create an account, launch a campaign, or contribute.
3. For what purposes do we use your data?
Your data is used to:
- Manage your user account, projects, associations, events, and contributions,
- Ensure identity verification and regulatory compliance (anti-fraud, anti-money laundering, and countering the financing of terrorism),
- Process payments securely via our authorized providers,
- Respond to your support requests,
- Improve our services and personalize the user experience,
- Comply with our legal obligations.
4. Data recipients
The following may have access to your data:
- Authorized Faroty personnel,
- Our partners (hosting providers, payment solutions), subject to strict confidentiality obligations,
- Organizers of campaigns or events to which you contribute (within the limits of what is necessary),
- Creators and members of groups or associations to which you belong (within the limits of what is necessary),
- Competent Cameroonian administrative and judicial authorities, if required by law.
5. Data retention
- Data related to accounts and transactions is kept for 5 years after the account is closed (in accordance with anti-fraud and anti-money laundering obligations).
- Navigation data and cookies are kept for a maximum of 13 months.
- Identity documents are kept only for the duration of the verification process.
6. Data transfer
Some data may be transferred outside of Cameroon, particularly when using international technical providers (payments, cloud hosting).
Faroty is committed to ensuring that these transfers comply with security guarantees in line with international standards.
7. Your rights
In accordance with Cameroonian law and international data protection principles, you have the following rights:
- To access your data,
- To rectify or complete your information,
- To request erasure in cases provided by law,
- To limit or object to certain processing,
- To withdraw your consent for processing based on it,
- To lodge a complaint with the National Agency for Information and Communication Technologies (ANTIC) in the event of a violation of your rights.
8. Security
Faroty implements appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data against loss, alteration, or unauthorized access (encryption, reinforced authentication, secure backups).
In the event of a data breach posing a risk to your rights and freedoms, you will be informed as soon as possible, and the competent authorities will be notified.
9. Changes
We may modify this policy at any time to adapt to legal, technical, or organizational developments. The update date will be indicated at the top of the document.
